Optimization Algorithm has been specifically developed for the wood cutting industry
GNCutter32 development started in 2006 by a request from a wood cutting machine manufacture.
Since that time the library evolved into a robust, simple and reliable solution for many software companies world-wide.
GNCutter32 provides the following wood cutting specific features:
1. Wood Grain Orientation Control.
Some or all parts you want to cut cannot be rotated to preserve the wood grain orientation.
In this case, when you add a new part, you just need to specify the rotatable parameter as FALSE and the part will not be rotated by 90° during the calculation.
2. Minimization of Cutting Layouts.
You can request the optimization engine to
minimize the number of different cutting layouts
in order to load and cut several panels at once. It dramatically saves the operating time.
3. Cutting Complexity Levels.
There are varieties of wood cutting machines on the market. Some of them are simple and can only make XY-cuts.
The more complex machines can rotate the cutting table and make nested cuts. GNCutter32 provides five levels of the cutting complexity:
XY,
two-stage XY,
XYZ,
XYZW and
Standard.
4. Saw Kerf (Part-to-Part gap).
When you use a saw to cut the wood panels you should take into consideration the
saw kerf/thickness and gap it creates in order to get a high accuracy.
5. Trim Sizes.
Often the wood panels come with rough edges that need to be cut off (trim) before the actual cutting happens.
You can specify the amount of panel to trim from
left, right, top and bottom sides.
6. First Cut Orientation.
If your cutting machine can make a long cut only along X or Y axis then GNCutter32 can generate the layouts with
the first cuts along X or Y axis to accommodate such hardware requirements.
